Large Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Donation Kicks Off United Way Fall Campaign

Whitman County, WA - Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has jump started United Way of Whitman County’s 2021-2022 Annual Campaign with a $30,000 donation to their local Community Fund. UWWC’s Community Fund awards grants to programs and organizations that support the health, education, and financial stability of every resident in Whitman County. This summer, 17 local non-profit organizations were awarded grants that helped support many programs from senior meal services to after school children’s activities.

“On behalf of the United Way of Whitman County, we are humbled by the recent donation to our campaign. SEL’s devotion to our community continues to amaze me. Taking on the health of our entire community with the SEL supported vaccine clinics is an excellent example of SEL’s demonstrated support of our community, “ said Kris Finch, UWWC Board President.

Finch added, “Each year UWWC carefully screens applicants during the allocations process. The last several years we have been unable to fill all the requests to fund the basic needs of our partner agencies. As a result, our small United Way has increased our fundraising goal by 30% to do everything we can to help out our partner agencies. Our community has been fantastic and we are counting on individuals and businesses to help us reach this goal and make a difference for our neighbors.”

Proceeds from the fall campaign will go to UWWC’s Community Fund Grants and will be available for local non-profit organizations to apply for next spring. All non-profits supporting the health, education, or financial stability of individuals and families in Whitman County are encouraged to apply.
